With the support of local State Member and RDA Horse Sponsor, Nikki Boyd, the State Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) has approved a significant $96,000 grant for Samford RDA to purchase its own horse float and 4x4 utility tow vehicle.
This key purchase will relieve pressure on our volunteers and help to streamline our operations, especially when we need to transport horses quickly.
Currently we rely on the use of volunteers’ vehicles and floats to take horses to and from medical treatment or the spelling paddock. With our own vehicles based at the centre, we will be able to schedule transport at any time; and the utility will be capable of picking up loads of horse feed, soil and vegetation when required. The grant will also fund a shade structure to protect the vehicles.
Samford RDA thanks the Queensland Government for approving our grant application in this ‘super round’ of the GCBF. The increased funding of up to $100,000 has allowed many organisations like ours to undertake special, significant projects this year. Thank you!
